At our core is a welcoming, values led community where ethical practice, collaboration, and progress matter. If it involves scent, you’ll find your people here.

Our team has years of operational and sport-level scent experience.
We’ve faced the same hurdles and want to make it easier for others to thrive.

Our Team

Meet the Founders

SIN was created by Susanne Broughton and Sandra Deverson, two passionate scent professionals with decades of combined experience in detection training, behaviour, and instructor education and are both SIFD section instructors.

We know how isolating this job can be, and we’re here to change that.

Susanne Broughton

I'm a canine scentwork and behaviour specialist with a lifelong passion for understanding dogs. I founded Doghampton and UK Scent Sport to help dogs and their humans connect through tracking, trailing, and scent detection.

My journey started as a teenager on a farm, working alongside sheepdogs and growing up surrounded by animals. That early curiosity led me to study psychology and earn an ILM diploma in business management before eventually swapping a career in logistics for one in canine behaviour.

Since then, I’ve gained qualifications in scent detection, mantrailing, tracking and dog behaviour. I’ve been a Head Instructor with Mantrailing Global, a Trail Instructor with Scent Imprint for Dogs, and hold City & Guilds qualifications in both trailing and detection. I also completed a teaching diploma to support my work mentoring new instructors.

Whether I’m guiding rescue dogs, running scent workshops, or supporting new trainers through the Scent Instructors Network, my mission stays the same  helping people truly understand the dogs in front of them and unlock their potential through scent.

Sandra Deverson
Dog Sport Enthusiast, Scent Instructor & Business Strategist

I started in dog sports as a teenager with the family Boxer at our local club. Over the years, I’ve competed successfully in IGP, Breitensport (a German multi-discipline dog sport), and tracking. I didn’t feel comfortable with old school training methods, so I sought better approaches training with Down Dog Training & Behaviour Academy, Dr Carol Clark, and attending courses with Sarah Whitehead, Susanne Broughton, Alexandra Butler, Wesley Visscher, Anna Pleban, and Craig Ogilvie.

I started my Mantrailing journey as an instructor in 2022 and achieved UK Scent Sport Instructor League 3 status in 2024, with more qualifications on the way. I’m a firm believer in continuous development.

My Border Collie Laoise is a super keen all rounder. She enjoys tracking, trailing, all aspects of UK Scent Sport, Rally-O, obedience, Hoopers, and is now trying Treibball. Our favourites are definitely “all things nose” you’ll find us many mornings tracking in the fields or honing detection skills in the training hall.

Since 1995, I’ve run a successful consultancy where my team of seven and I review nearly 1,000 sets of accounts each month. We advise on plausibility, risk, profitability, and how to run a business without losing your mind. Day-to-day, we deliver online and in-person training, offer helpline support, and help other businesses make sense of their numbers.
